"This girl had a sort of beauty that changed depending on the angle you viewed her, looking at her one way, her features were as elegant and sharp as a blade. Looking at her another, her eyes blazed with an inner fire. As it happened, Arlo liked to play with both knives and matches." Love is the Last Resort Jon Skovron
An anthology of diverse romance -some happy some bittersweet that take place -when else? -during the summer. Twelve love stories by some of the hottest YA authors writing today with diverse characters (LGBTQ and black leads) and a range of genres including horror, science fiction and historical. A little something for everyone and overall a good read. HS romance, relationships, summer
What I liked: Short stories so I could dip in and read one or two at a time without a huge commitment or feeling interrupted. Diverse characters and multiple genres with some romances ending not so happily kept me on my toes and things from getting too sugary sweet.
Who should read it: Anyone who likes short stories, romance, and humor.

P. S. I Like You by Kasie West
Lily has a lot on her plate with school and her crazy family. Her one saving grace is her guitar and her tentative attempts at song writing. When she absent-mindingly writes a lyric from an obscure band on her desk in chemistry; she is shocked and delighted when she returns the next day and sees someone has completed the lyric. Thus begins an exchange of notes between Lily and her mystery pen pal. Who is this mystery music soul mate who shares his secrets and cheers her up? Does she really want to know? What will she do when she finds out who he is? HS music, high school, romance, friendship
What I liked: I liked the friendship between Lily and her best friend. I even liked her crazy family - I felt for her, trying to find a space of sanity in the craziness. I also liked that she wasn't always blameless in the antagonistic relationship she had with her nemesis Cade.
Who should read it: Romance lovers
